Now that the graduation ceremony is over at Huntington Hills High, it's time for the real festivities to begin--at the graduation party. Aspiring writer Preston Meyers (Ethan Embry) has been carrying a torch for class knockout Amanda Beckett (Jennifer Love Hewitt) for years. His tormented infatuation culminates at the party, where he must seize this final opportunity to declare his love before leaving for Boston the next day. This is auspicious timing, because Amanda has just been dumped by her superjock boyfriend (Peter Facinelli). The gathering proves to be the kind of momentous party that brings the popularity kings and queens to their knees, transforms geeks into class heroes, and proves, with a little help from fate, that nice guys don't always finish last.
