What this remake is sorely missing, that the original had in spades, is heart and magic.

Poltergeist isn't one of those remakes that pisses on the corpse of the original, but it doesn't do much with the framework either.

Otherwise, as far as horror remakes go, this ranks amongst Evil Dead and The Hills Have Eyes as one of the better ones.
