Curtis successfully balances his film's sadder elements with moments of merriment and bliss, and he gives the scenes of bonding between awkward father and neglected son an appropriately honey-golden glow.

Despite good work from its cast that complement its themes, the script can't help but sanitize and speed through the sadder, much deeper story that lie at the film's core.

This is the kind of the movie that words like 'nice' or 'precious' were invented to describe.

Much credit goes to the two British lads who play Christopher Robin.

It's a good one to share with the family and a beautiful piece of period filmmaking, costumes and all.
